Anderson Island Parks
There are many parks located on Anderson Island. Some of them are only for Riviera
Club members and their guests while others are available to be enjoyed by the
general public.
More descriptions and maps will be added shortly. If you
have a map of any of the island parks, please
e-mail
us.
Andy’s Wildlife Park
Andy’s Wildlife Park encompasses 170 acres of wetlands, tidal estuary and
old-growth timber just south of the Old Schoolhouse. There is an extensive trail
system for hikers and the parking lot on Eckenstam-Johnson Road is a short walk
from a small picnic area on the banks of School House Creek.
Tip: If you get scared by the sign that says it's a 3.5
mile loop, don't worry it's only about two miles.
Andrew Anderson Marine Park
The core of the park was the gift of Andrew Anderson (1895-1975), a true
visionary concerning the preservation of the way of life we cherish on this
island. the three-quarters of a mile long trail to the beach.
The Marine Park routinely receives rave reviews from islanders and their guests,
and we can certainly take great satisfaction and pride in having such an
outstanding facility in a community of this size. Rick Anderson is the
commissioner for this park.

Elementary School, Russ Cammon Ballfield, the covered play area, and the Jane
Cammon Walking (and Bicycle) Trail.
The Old Schoolhouse [Wide-Awake Hollow]
.The Old Schoolhouse was donated by Anderson Island School District prior to its
dissolution in 1968. The park includes the Schoolhouse, the oldest one-room
schoolhouse in Pierce County, various out-buildings, and approximately five
acres on the other side of Eckenstam-Johnson Road abutting the Cemetery. The
cottonwood trees in the school yard were planted early in the last century and
have become a symbol of the park. The Old Schoolhouse is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places.

people visit it on nice summer days.
Tom White Park
St. Anne’s Woods
Randy oversees this park as well, which is a twenty acre parcel of high bank
property on the south end of the island. A gift of the Nuns of St. Francis to be
used as a park in perpetuity, the land is currently undeveloped. Future plans
include securing access from the county road, developing a parking area, and a
nature trail leading through the woods to a Sunset Vista Point overlooking
Nisqually Reach.
